Sadita Veterinary Response Team Conducts Field Investigation and Livestock Development Seminar in Konawe Regency

Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi – September 15, 2025
PT Satwa Medika Utama (Sadita), through its Veterinary Response Team, carried out a two-day integrated program in Laloika Village, Pondidaha District, Konawe Regency, on Sunday–Monday, September 14–15, 2025. This initiative demonstrates Sadita’s strong commitment to safeguarding livestock health while strengthening the region’s livestock industry potential.

Field Investigation of Sudden Cattle Deaths

The first agenda focused on a field investigation of an alarming case of sudden cattle deaths, with an initial report of 36 animals lost. The veterinary team, led by drh. Ilsan Arvan Nurgas, M.Si. and drh. Agus Krisdiyantoro, M.Si., conducted direct examinations and provided immediate emergency interventions.

Preliminary findings indicated a parasitic worm infection as the primary cause. The affected cattle showed symptoms including weight loss, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dull hair coats, and anemia, which ultimately led to mortality. Prompt veterinary measures were taken to prevent further spread and to minimize the economic losses faced by local farmers.

Seminar on Livestock Health and Development

On the second day, the program continued with a “Seminar on Livestock Health and Development Potential in Konawe Regency”, organized in collaboration with Agra Wisata. The seminar brought together key stakeholders, including Acting Head of the Konawe Agriculture Office H.K. Santoso, SE., M.Si., Owner of Agra Wisata H. Teten Alamsyah, Director of PT Satwa Medika drh. Ilsan Arvan Nurgas, M.Si., and local farmers.
The keynote presentation was delivered by drh. Agus Krisdiyantoro, M.Si., followed by a lively discussion and Q&A session marked by enthusiastic participation from attendees.

In his opening remarks, H. Teten Alamsyah highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration: “This meeting serves as a platform for sharing among all stakeholders—government authorities, Sadita, and of course the local livestock community.”
Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Konawe Agriculture Office H.K. Santoso, SE., M.Si., emphasized the urgency of achieving regional self-sufficiency: “Konawe Regency must become self-reliant in the livestock supply chain and no longer depend on imports from other regions. We are still in deficit in terms of egg consumption and rely heavily on external supplies. We hope this initiative brings new momentum for Konawe to flourish in the livestock sector.”
Echoing this vision, drh. Ilsan Arvan Nurgas, M.Si., stated: “Enhancing both the quantity and quality of livestock production plays a vital role in maintaining our national food security. Any disruption in this area can threaten food resilience. As a private sector entity, we are eager to contribute to this mission.”

Strengthening Food Security Through Partnership

This two-day program underscores PT Satwa Medika Utama’s commitment to supporting local government and farmers in safeguarding animal health and expanding livestock production potential. The collaboration between government, private sector, and farming communities is expected to reinforce food security and promote livestock self-sufficiency across Konawe Regency.
